Chocolate Lovers Paradise – Trench Restro Lounge

Nutella Waffles

We were bored of trying the usual restaurants so the Mr. suggested, ‘Let’s go to some place classy. We seriously need to try different genre restaurants.’ The MR. and I, we both love places that are calm and gives us our time and space to speak and chillax. Till date we have avoided a lot of places saying it might be too noisy. Drop it! Loud music? Chuck it! But with 2018, we decided to try something new and out of our comfort zone and we ended up loving it!

Trench Restro Lounge by The Chocolate Room is a chilled-out dining place/café in Hill Road, Bandra, just opposite to Elco. As usual, I shortlisted this place after checking their menu and reviews/ ratings. We wanted to have a fun time and this place was just perfect for us!

Its super cool with classy interiors. They have two different sections; the outer section is more open with bright lighting and comfortable chairs. Did I mention they have swings chairs? Yes! You heard me right 😊 the walls are decorated with bicycle inspired frames.

Uber cool place 🙂

They have stairs that lead to a more cosy and private area, apt for families and couples. The light is comparatively sober. Here you have more of a formal setup. Chair and sofas. They have music playing in the background which adds to the mood and vibe of the place.

First of all, I have to say I’m totally impressed by their menu. It’s a vegetarian’s paradise. So many options to choose from and all look tempting and yum!

Tomato Basil Soup

As always, we first started with soup – Tomato Basil – It was yummy! It was thick but not heavy, the quantity was just about right. It tasted a little sweet at the start but after adding salt and pepper to comfort our taste buds: P it was just perfect!

For the first trial we stuck to the basics. I’m sure I’ll come again to try other stuff 😊

Peri Peri Fries

After Soup, we were confused between two to three appetisers. After a lot of discussion, we settled for fries: P Loved the cheesy dip ❤ They were good.

Veg. Supreme Pizza

Star of the evening!

I just loved how it looked, how it tasted, every bit of it 😊 It was thin crust pizza with sufficient amount of toppings. The taste was amazing! We loved it so much that we wanted to have an another one. But, then we had to console the inner foodie cos we had to try other stuff especially desserts. Definitely, the star of the evening!

Fruit Frappe

We were busy admiring and hogging all the lovely stuff that we forgot to order some drinks. We decided to go with Mango and Wild Strawberry Frappe (without cream). It was normal thick milkshake with fruit essence probably.

It failed to create an impact but it was just about okay. Both the taste and presentation, were OK. Moving on to the next.

Nutella Waffle

Mr. and I, both are waffle freaks! We just need waffle all the time! So, without much a thought we ordered the Nutella Waffle and it was heaven! The presentation looked beautiful and the taste was yum! Yum! Yum!

Strawberry Patch Pancakes

The presentation was literally beautiful with delicate strawberries cut and decorated around freshly baked pancakes with ice cream and strawberry sauce. We literally fought for the last piece of strawberry in that plate and wiped the plate clean within few mins. Loved it!

After all this drama, we wanted something to drink, light weight and ice based. One of the staff members suggested granita. We ordered raspberry for me and black plum for the Mr. As expected, the raspberry was power packed and yum! Black plum was little sober and I could literally taste only ice. So, no Black plum for me.

The staff are friendly and very prompt in their service. Every order took about 10 – 15 mins, being a Sunday, it is good and consistent. They were quick and few of them catered to us with smile.

The pricing seems pretty reasonable for the yummy food we had. Over all tummy khush!

Overall, loved this place! Definitely will go again to try other yummy stuff!

Thanks for the read! Hope you guys enjoyed reading! Until next time..

Lots of love,

Wise and Otherwise – Book Review

It’s a collection of 50 beautiful stories which the author, Sudha Murthy, has encountered in her life. People she has met and dealt with during her travel or day-to-day life. She shares an array of emotions with every story she narrates. It’s an easy breezy book which also makes us think about the society we live in.

The stories are simple and we can relate to them. I loved the stories with the positive characters in the lead, which left the author spellbound. One could connect to the emotions she shared while reading the story.

Few of my favourite stories are:

  1. Honestly comes from the heart
  2. On Human Foibles
  3. In Sahyadri Hills, a lesson in humility
  4. In India, The worst of both worlds
  5. When telegrams were bad
  6. A man too clever by half
  7. A bond betrayed on Rakhi day
  8. A lesson learnt from a beggar
  9. Cause, then cure
  10. Idealists at twenty, Realists at forty
  11. Salaam Namaste
  12. Not all’s wrong with the next generation
  13. Woman with a mind
  14. The IT divide
  15. Unwed mothers
  16. Willing Candidate

I personally felt the author is able to express the happy stories in a better way. When she is awestruck by a person’s honestly, personality it shows in her writing style. Few of the stories I found it boring and just wanted to skip it. They seem very plain and emotionless.

Overall, it’s a good book to read and one can finish it in two to three days. Few places it makes us smile and few places it makes you sad and makes us wonder about the society we live in.

The Power – Book Review

In this book, Rhonda Byrne reveals the greatest power in the universe is the power to have anything you want. One thing can change your relationships, money, health, happiness, career and life.

The author further explains, that love is the ultimate power to receive anything and everything you want in life!  Just merely reading the book won’t suffice. One needs to apply it in our day-to-day life to feel the change. It boosts your energy and definitely amazes you. Though the book sounds cheesy, it gives you a hope that it is never to late to start fresh and change the course of life.

I felt few points have been repetitive where she goes on and on about being positive and giving love. But I loved the fact she gave ample examples and explanation behind every point. It makes it easier for the reader to understand and apply it. One can relate well with the examples given 😊 Which definitely helps u to know where we are going wrong and how we can rectify it. Sometimes repetitive assurance helps us  believe and go for it.

Few quotes and points I loved the most are:-

1. “Gratitude is the great multiplier.”

2.  “What you feel about another person, what you think or say about another person, what you do to another person – you do to you. Give judgment and criticism and you give it to yourself. Give love and appreciation to another person or anything, and you give it to yourself.”

3.  “Turn away from the things you don’t love and don’t give them any feeling, because they are fine as they are but they have no place in your life.”

4. “Life is simple. Your life is made up of only two kinds of things – positive things and negative things.”

5. “Life isn’t happening to you; life is responding to you. Life is your call! Every area of your life is your call. You are the creator of your life. You are the writer of your life story. You are the director of your life movie. You decide what your life will be – by what you give out.”

6. “Every day is an opportunity for a new life. Every day you stand at the tipping point of your life. And on any one day you can change the future – through the way that you feel.”

7. “The better you feel about money, the more money you magnetize to yourself.”

8. “Money is only a tool for you to experience the things you love in life. When you think about the things you can do with money, you will feel much more love and joy than when you think only of money. Imagine being with what you love, doing what you love, and having the things you love, because you will then feel far more love than you will if you only think about money.”

9. “When you are feeling happy, and you keep feeling happy, then only happy people, circumstances and events can come into your life. If you feel stressed, then only more stress can come into your life through people, circumstances and events.”

10. “If you have been living your life saying to yourself, “I will be happy when I have a better house,” “I will be happy when I get a job or promotion,” “I will be happy when the kids are through college,” “I will be happy when we have more money,” “I will be happy when I can travel,” or “I will be happy when my business is a success,” you will never have those things because your thoughts are defying the way love works. They’re defying the law of attraction. You have to be happy first, and give happiness, to receive happy things! It can’t happen any other way, because whatever you want to receive in life, you must give first! You are in command of your feelings, you are in command of your love, and the force of love will give back to you whatever you give out.”

11. “Everything in the universe is magnetic and everything has a magnetic frequency. Your feelings and thoughts have magnetic frequencies too… Whatever you feel, whether good or bad, determines your frequency, and like a magnet you attract the people, events, and circumstances that are on the same frequency.”

12. “The more love you give in your day-to-day life, the greater the magnetic power of love you have in the field around you, and everything you want will fall at your feet.”

13. “When you are on a feeling frequency of love, then only people who are on the same feeling frequency as you are can come into your life.”

14.  “Let go of the things you don’t love about your childhood, and keep the things you love. Let go of the things you don’t love about your adolescent and adult years, and keep the good things. Just keep the things you love about your whole life.”

15.  “Every single second is an opportunity to change your life, because in any moment you can change the way you feel.”

16. “Remember it only takes giving love and good feelings a minimum of 51 percent of the item to reach the tipping point and change everything.”

Overall, this book is a must read for all. One can read it again and again! When in doubt, read this book. I’m sure it will answer all your doubts and queries which have been bothering you. You will definitely find a way 🙂

Arya Bhavan – Authentic South Indian food

Arya Bhavan is one of our favourite restaurants in Mumbai where we get comfort food. It’s one of the busiest places in Matunga East which serves authentic South Indian food. We tried this place for the first time two years back and there is no looking back!

Ambiance and location

It’s a simple place with no fancy stuff. They have few tables and benches spread over. On weekdays it’s easier to get a table. On weekends, it looks like one of the happening places in this area and it can be quite a task to get a table 😉 Sometimes, you might end up sharing a table with a stranger! 😊

They cater wide variety in fast food and South Indian. You are guaranteed to have a lovely experience and taste lip smacking food!

I am a regular here so, I can vouch for almost every item on the menu. But I’m sharing a must haves list which you must try if you are coming to Arya Bhavan.

#Nellai Idli (INR 60 /-)

They have the softest Idli I’ve ever tasted in Mumbai. They serve it hot which adds to the taste 😊

Perfect Breakfast on a lovely Sunday

#Pongal (INR 80/-)

I’m not a Pongal fan, but after having here I find myself ordering Pongal regularly. Their Pongal would be Perfection! (As Chandler Bing would say 😊 ;))

#Podi Onion Rawa Sada Dosa (INR 120 /-)

If you love spicy stuff, you must try this one! Super crispy sprinkled with podi (molaga podi). It tastes awesome!

#Rawa Biscuit (INR 100/-)

I recently tasted this beauty and instantly fell in love with it. In simple words, these are small rawa dosas with vegetable fillings and grated cheese.

P.S.: Ask for green chutney to go with it

# Pav Bhaji (INR 130/-)

It tastes good. When compared to North Indian standards, it’s good. If you are a cheese lover go for cheese pav bhaji. Yumm!!

Taste bhi, Health Bhi 🙂

#Moong Dal Dosa (Sundays & Holiday Spcl.) (INR 85/-)

It’s soft and has a lovely flavour to it. Go for it if you don’t like spicy stuff. It’s healthy and yummy too 😊

#Kerala Parota and Kurma (INR 60 /-)

It’s hands down the best parota you can have in this area. The taste matches the original kerala parota or Madurai parota by almost 95%. I can have this again and again and not get bored at all 😊 😉

#Dal Khichidi (INR 95/-)

Being a South Indian restaurant, they serve tasty and desi dal khichidi. Do try their chapatis too – they are very soft!

#Curd Rice (INR 80/-)

Any South Indian meal is incomplete without curd rice. My hubby loves his curd rice too much and he takes it very seriously! He loves their curd rice especially the tadka 😊

#South Indian Filter Coffee (INR 40/-)

Like I said, any south indian tiffin is incomplete without having filter coffee (or as we say kaapi). They serve it brass coffee tumbler set which gives the authentic feel to it!

#Hot Badam Milk (INR 70/-)

I just love this one! They serve it in those ceramic brown chai cups.

Winter season + Hot badam milk = Comfort!

Yum! Yum! Yum!

#Mango Juice (INR 120/-)

It’s basically fresh mango pulp served with lots of love ❤ It is just yummy!!!

Treat to the eyes ❤ and of course Tummy too 🙂

#Strawberry Milkshake (INR 100/-)

I just love the thick flavour and consistency. They own you!

#Sugarcane Juice (INR 60/-)

Super fresh and awesome taste 😊

The staff are super friendly and courteous. The service is quick and there is no room for disappointment.

The prices are quite reasonable and pocket friendly. Totally worth every penny!

It’s a must try restaurant for all the right reasons – Yummy food! Yummy food! Yummy food!

Lots of Love,
